Channel 9 Winter Olympics 2026

Channel 9 asked Jago Design to devise a flexible sports set HQ that could service the varied fixtures in the Australian sports calendar. The brief outlined the need for AR set extensions to enlarge the space and give the output a sense of grandeur. The Jago Design approach cleverly synthesized physical set elements including high resolution LED screens and bespoke furniture with an architecturally appropriate augmented environment. The result is an impressive and harmonious broadcast space that blurs the boundary between reality and AR.

The new sports headquarters faced one of its first major tests during coverage of the Winter Olympics. The production team set out with an ambitious goal: to seamlessly integrate the Australian-based studio with a smaller outside broadcast space in Italy using coordinated design and augmented reality set extensions. Through careful design development and close collaboration with the client, the final result achieved a cohesive visual identity, enabling Channel 9 to transition effortlessly between locations on opposite sides of the world.
